Window and balcony safety Deaths
Information for consumers on the Think child safe for windows and balconies campaign to focus attention on the risks associated with children playing close to open windows or unattended on balconies.
In New South Wales, (NSW) Australian, each year, around 50 children fall from windows or balconies. Many suffer serious injuries. Sometimes these falls are fatal.
The Think child safe campaign is focussing attention on the risks associated with children playing close to open windows or unattended on balconies.
A Think child safe brochure and poster listing the key safety messages for parents and carers has been developed by NSW Health and free supplies can be ordered from the Fair Trading website or by calling 13 32 20. If you are a parent or carer of young children and you live in a medium to high rise building, you need to be particularly alert to the dangers that unsecured windows and balconies pose to children.
